Submission of Manuscripts Papers should be submitted online after registration. Submission of a manuscript to RBMB implies that it has not previously been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. The manuscript should be submitted in English as an MS Word document.
Types of Articles The Journal publishes reviews, mini-reviews, full research papers, brief communications, and case reports.
Preparation of manuscripts: All manuscripts should be typed in 12-point Times New Roman font. The instructions below should be followed carefully:
1. Title page, containing (a) the title of the paper, (b) name(s) of the author(s), (c) institution(s) and full contact address including the telephone number of the corresponding author, email addresses, preferably academic email, of all authors. Superscript numbers should be used to link authors with institutions and an asterisk (*) to refer to the corresponding author.
2. Abstract, no longer than 250 words, immediately after the title. The abstract should include background, methods, results, and conclusions, followed by three to five keywords. Keywords will assist indexers in cross-indexing articles as they are published with their abstracts. Use terms from the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) list of Index Medicus (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/MBrowser.html). Abstracts should accurately reflect the article's contents.
Introduction: This section should summarize the purpose and rationale of the study. It should neither review the subject extensively nor include data or conclusions from the study.
Materials and Methods: This section should include exact methods, observations, and experiments. If an apparatus is used, the manufacturer’s name and address should be provided in parentheses. Provide references if established methods are used. If new methods are used, sufficient information should be provided to allow other experimenters to repeat them. If drugs are used, generic names, doses, and routes of administration must be provided. For patients, ages and sex with mean ages ± standard deviations must be provided. Statistical methods, computer programs, and information systems must be reported.
Results: Must be presented as text, tables, or illustrations. Table contents should not be repeated in the text; instead, references to table numbers may be given. Long articles may need sub-headings within sections to clarify their contents. This is most likely to occur in the results and discussion sections.
Discussion: This section should emphasize the present findings and variations or similarities with other studies in the field by other researchers. Data should not be repeated in the discussion. New and important aspects of the study and the conclusions that follow from them should be emphasized. It must be reported whether the hypothesis presented in the article was supported by the experimental results.
Acknowledgments: All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be reported in the acknowledgment section. These include persons who provided technical or writing assistance, and the departmental head that provided general support.
Funding: Financial and material support should also be acknowledged. Sources of funding must be acknowledged in the manuscript.
Tables: In limited numbers should be submitted with captions above tables. Tables should not be submitted as photographs. Explanatory matters should be included in footnotes, not headings.
References: All manuscripts should be accompanied by appropriate relevant references.
The accuracy of references is the responsibility of the authors. References should be entered consecutively by Arabic numerals in parentheses in the text and arranged based on the Vancouver format as below:
Proof Reading: Proofs will be sent to corresponding authors before publication. Corrected proofs should be returned promptly to the Journal office.
Abbreviations and symbols: Use only standard abbreviations. Avoid abbreviations in the title and abstract. The full term an abbreviation represents should precede the abbreviation’s first use in the text unless it is a standard unit of measurement.
Ethical guidelines: Ethical considerations must be addressed in the materials and methods section. 1) Please state that informed consent was obtained from all human adult participants or parents or legal guardians of minors. Include names of appropriate institutional review boards that approved the project. 2) Indicate in the text that maintenance and care of experimental animals complied with the National Institutes of Health guidelines for the humane use of laboratory animals, or those of your institute or agency.
Conflicts of interest: Authors must acknowledge and declare any sources of funding and potential conflicting interest, such as receiving funds or fees by, or holding stocks and shares in, an organization that may profit or lose through publication of the manuscript. Declaring a competing interest will not lead to the automatic rejection of the paper, but the Journal should be informed.
Article Processing Charges: “Reports of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology” is an Open Access journal, so publishing an article in the Journal requires publication fees that will be billed to the submitting author following the acceptance of an article for publication. The fee to be paid following the acceptance of an article is 400 US $ for the authors outside of Iran or 40,000,000 Iranian Rials for the authors inside of Iran. Longer papers are subjected to mandatory overlength page charges. To pay in Rial, follow the instruction on the website and international payments can be done via PayPal to Editor-in-ChiefRBMB.net and write the code of their manuscript in the receipt.
Fast track is available and you should ask by Email and the charge will be higher than the regular fee.
Copyright: At the time of sending the manuscript, the authors are requested to sign the Copyright Agreement Form available Here. All Articles published in the “International Journal of Pediatrics” are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License which allows users including authors of articles to copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, in addition to remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially, as long as the author and source are properly cited or credited.
Peer review process: All manuscripts are considered to be confidential. They are peer-reviewed by at least two anonymous reviewers selected by the editorial board. The corresponding author will be notified as soon as possible of the editor's decision to accept, reject, or require modifications. If the manuscript is completely acceptable according to the criteria outlined in these instructions, it will be scheduled for the next available issue.
