1. The style is Vancouver style. You can use a “Reference manager” such as EndNote and apply this easily.
2. A number is allocated to a source in the order in which it is cited in the text. If the source is referred to again, the same number is used.
3. The references numbers appear in order in text.
4. Use Arabic numerals (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) in curved brackets ( ).
5. Reference numbers should be inserted to the left or inside of colons and semi-colons.
6. Reference numbers are placed before full stops.
7. If you have more than one citation, write in order and use colon between them (21,25,42). If you have multiple numbers in order, use – between the lowest number to the higher one, (21-30) refer to 9 references. In some cases, a combination of these two rules is applied: (2,7-10) refers to 45 references.
8. References are listed in numerical order, and in the same order in which they are cited in text. The reference list appears at the end of the paper.
9. Begin your reference list on a new page and title it 'References.'
10. The reference list should include all and only those references you have cited in the text. (However, do not include unpublished items such as correspondence).
11. Use Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).
12. Abbreviate journal titles in the style used in the NLM Catalog
13. Check the reference details against the actual source - you are indicating that you have read a source when you cite it.
14. Follow these examples closely for all layout, punctuation, spacing and capitalization. These general rules apply to both print and electronic articles.
15. Enter author's surname followed by no more than 2 initials (full stop).
16. If more than 1 author: give all authors' names and separate each by a comma and a space.
17. For articles with 1 to 7 authors, list all authors.
18. For articles with more than 7 authors, list the first 6 authors then add 'et al.
19. 'Only the first word of the article title and words that normally begin with a capital letter are capitalized.
20. Journal titles are abbreviated (to decipher/find correct abbreviations see PubMed Journals Database. For example, “Reports of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology” is written as Rep Biochem Mol Biol.
21. Give the volume number (no space) followed by issue number in ().
22. If the journal has continuous page numbering through its volumes, omit month/issue number. Abbreviate page numbers where possible, eg: 123-29.
23. Do not write DOI or the link of the references.
24. Use the examples and use their punctuations pattern.
25. Check the reference list and remove repetitive references.
